Looking for New Opportunities

One of the best things about being a writer and editor is the constant opportunity to learn. My professional path has taken me in unexpected directions. I have always been eager to broaden my skills with new experiences.

I have been an editor in the field of educational publishing, and a technical writer in the financial and telecom industries.  I have mentored new technical writers and, as an instructor, I have designed and taught my own course introducing colleagues to social media marketing.

In technical writing, I specialize in help documentation and FAQ. My experience as an instructor gives me the background to create effective, step-by-step instructions for mobile, PC and web applications, as well as the type of back-end systems used in sales and order processing.  I know, though, that help documentation is just the tip of the iceberg. I look forward to exploring more of this ever-evolving field.

As an editor, I have worked on a wide range of projects, from test preparation guides, to social science texts, to newsletters and newspaper articles, course materials, websites, and business communications.

On the flip side, I also take on more creative projects. I enjoy writing marketing pieces and, in my work as a certified Life-Cycle Celebrant®, I create customized ceremonies for clients seeking personalized
content to mark life's milestones.   As an extension of that work, I am open to work writing speeches and scripting corporate presentations and events.

This wide range of experience has meant for a stimulating and enjoyable career, but it also makes it challenging to fit myself into the narrow slots preferred by most job-search sites. (Most sites seem to separate the technical writing from marketing, for example. In my experience,  the ability to teach the user how to use a product goes hand in hand in explaining why they need it.)

So, I am posting my resume here as a reference to those who may seek my skills.

I am available for both full-time and freelance work. Contact me at any time for consultation and employment opportunities.
